Miss Earth® is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. Along with Miss Universe and Miss World contests, Miss Earth® is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitors to participate in the world finals.
The reigning titleholders dedicate their year to promote environmental projects and to address issues concerning the environment.
As explained in their web site (www.MissEarth.tv), after establishing a track record in mounting world-class beauty pageants over the last decade, Carousel Productions Inc., producers of the international Miss Earth® pageant, decided to reinvent and improve the concept of beauty competitions for the new millennium.
Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, Carousel Productions, Inc. believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel organized and launched in 2001 the MISS EARTH® Beauty Pageant, a beauty event whose raison d’etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth.

MISS EARTH UNITED STATES®
In 2006, MISS EARTH® licensed Earth Pageant Productions LLC to produce the pageant to select the MISS EARTH® representative from the United States.
Earth Pageant Productions LLC
added a TEEN division in 2008, in order to give younger women the opportunity to participate in this very enriching program.
The Teen Earth United States pageant is held alongside the Miss Earth United
States pageant.
The United States Earth Pageant is designed to recognize and encourage excellence among the outstanding young woman throughout our nation. During the national pageant, delegates will participate in numerous public appearances, environmental and motivational seminars, specially planned events, rehearsals and fun!
While a performing arts talent is not required, the national pageant offers an opportunity to showcase them, during the optional talent competition. The winner is awarded the title of United States Miss Talent along with a special award and will showcase her winning performing arts talent, during the coronation night.
JUDGING PROCESS
National delegates will be fairly and accurately judged in five separate but equal phases of competition: Personality and Interview, Environmental Awareness, Swimsuit, Evening Gown, and Overall Impression.
The points from the five phases of competition are added up, and the delegates with the highest total of points become finalists.
Personality and Interview: Miss Earth United States MUST be personable, likable, approachable, charming and an effective communicator in different scenarios. The national delegates will be given several opportunities to meet with the judges in order to achieve this goal. They will meet with the judges in a “meet & greet” setting, enjoy a special meal with the panel and participate in a panel style interview. Each segment is designed to provide each delegate with an opportunity to make a lasting positive impression on our judges and to test her communication skills. Delegates are not judged on their personal opinions or beliefs.
Environmental Awareness:Each national delegate will be interviewed on their environmental awareness and how this crisis affects her own community, with special attention given to her ability to effectively communicate her thoughts and ideas. Being an "expert" on environmental issues is not required BUT a basic degree of information and knowledge about the region they represent is necessary.
Swimsuit: Emphasis is not on being the thinnest or having a six-pack abdomen. Contestants are judged on having an attractive, healthy and feminine figure for their body type. Confidence, stage presence and personality are the main key here.
Evening Gown: During the most glamorous portion of the pageant, the delegates will be judged on their personal style, elegance, carriage, poise and stage presence. Judges seek that lasting beautiful image and how she carries the gown. The cost of the gown is not considered.
Overall Impression: The Overall Impression category will provide our judges an opportunity to take into account the overall presentation without specific emphasis one any one particular event. This is often a combination between first impressions and consistency in the performance.
